The Barn

At the heart of Westown Square is a place that feels a little different.

The Barn is where local comes to life.

We created The Barn as a destination within a destination — a place where food, creativity, entrepreneurship and entertainment come together, and where some of the character of our wider community can find a permanent home.

It isn’t simply somewhere to shop or grab something to eat. It’s somewhere to wander, discover something you didn’t know you were looking for, meet the people behind local businesses, stay for lunch and perhaps find yourself still there when the music starts.

Made to be discovered

At the heart of The Barn is our Makers Market, bringing together locally owned businesses and entrepreneurs across homeware, art, fashion, beauty, fragrance and artisanal food.  

These aren’t simply products on shelves. Behind them are local makers, creators and entrepreneurs who have turned ideas, skills and passions into businesses.

That was always an important part of the thinking behind The Barn. We wanted to create a permanent home for local creativity and entrepreneurship, giving smaller and more specialised businesses a place within the heart of Westown Square.  

And because the mix is intentionally varied, no two visits need to feel quite the same.

Come hungry

Food is a big part of The Barn experience.

On the lower level, the market brings together food, coffee and a central dining atrium, while upstairs the experience expands into sit-down restaurants and places to enjoy a drink. The Barn’s published offering includes locally owned restaurants, a craft brewery, and wine experiences alongside its market traders.  

It means The Barn can change with your day.

Pop in for coffee. Meet someone for lunch. Grab something from the market. Settle in for dinner. Or turn an afternoon visit into an evening out.

Stay for the atmosphere

Then there is the part that can’t really be put on a store directory.

The atmosphere.

Live music and entertainment are a regular part of life at The Barn, helping turn its central spaces into places where people gather rather than simply pass through. The Barn has hosted recurring weekend live music and a broader programme of community events and entertainment.  

That matters to us.

Because when we talk about creating Westown, we’re not only talking about the buildings, stores and spaces we create. We’re talking about what happens in them.

Friends meeting after work. Families spending a Saturday together. Someone discovering a local maker for the first time. Music playing while people eat. A small business finding a new audience.

Those are the moments that give a place its character.
