Westown site establishment has begun and soon the team will be breaking ground on the first phase of the development, the retail hub of Westown Square.
This 45 000m² retail offering is the heart of the Westown development and is designed in a high street style as opposed to a single-roof mall.
Driven by the characteristics of the Shongweni green belt and the community vibe of “meeting and mingling”, the design of Westown Square has placed the emphasis on big gardens, wide walkways, and pockets of experience throughout the hub.
Since Covid, customers are demanding a different retail experience one that connects them to the spaces around them. Westown Square will offer an environment supportive of this demand with open and convenient spaces created to connect people to shopping, dining, and commercial and recreational amenities. Construction on R1.3 billion retail offering will begin in September for completion by September 2024.
Westown is a mixed-use precinct of urban and green spaces located on prime real estate in Shongweni along the N3 between Pietermaritzburg and Durban.
